Due to the high limestone content in the loess soil of the Zornheimer Berg sunny plateau, the wine also acquires a fine, mineral spiciness, which was further developed through twenty hours of skin contact. Together with the harmonious backbone of acidity, this results in an extremely refreshing, exciting aromatic profile in the glass.

The Winery

Viticulture in Rheinhessen's highest-altitude wine village (Zornheim) has been in the blood of the Schittler and Becker families for generations. Bound together by love and wine, the two once-independent operations grew into today's successful and inseparable family business, sealed by their merger into the "Vereinigte Weingüter Schittler & Becker."

Young winemaker Julia Schittler is bringing a fresh breeze to the winery and is already celebrating her 5th anniversary this year. She is the master of the wine cellar and appreciates wines with character and rough edges, which she expresses in her own product line.

The wines of the Vereinigte Weingüter are produced entirely from their own grapes, and with a total of 40 hectares under cultivation, there is always plenty to do—both in the vineyard and in the wine cellar.

  • Geography and geology

    Julia manages the united Schittler-Becker wineries in a dual role and is expanding her own line with great success. She wouldn’t trade her Zornheimer Berg "place of power" for anything. "A magnificent sunny plateau rising up to 214 meters, where the vines recharge and ripen slowly, where there is always a fresh breeze blowing, and every site features a different soil structure. From deep loamy soils to limestone, we find everything here!" Whether it's single-vineyard Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, the new premium Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc wines, or even the immensely calibrated Silvaner: Julia vinifies emotional wines that touch you in the most varied ways – sometimes with a creamy melt, sometimes with salty secrets, sometimes with whispers of peach, or with a cheerful, summery freshness that simply brings a smile to our faces!
