Two different French classics from white wine regions: Pouilly-Fuissé and Pouilly-Fumé.
It is a small voyage of discovery through France – the moderate, sunny climates of the Loire and neighboring Burgundy are similar. Nevertheless, two regions, two very different stories, which manifest themselves in the wines.
The story of the Loire – Pouilly-Fumé
In the Loire, where the natural river and old quarries set the pace, lie the special soils of Pouilly-Fumé.
- The soil: Here, limestone, marl, and fine flint (Silex) mix to form a special foundation. These rocks give the wine its minerality and, in special wines (Daguenau - Silex), that famous, subtly smoky note – if you strike these "glassy" stones together, you can smell this note.
- The taste: The result? A fresh, crisp Sauvignon Blanc that not only awakens the palate with its citrus notes and a hint of green apples, but also the spirit – elegant, mineral, and surprisingly complex. Not a lightweight :-)

The story of Burgundy – Pouilly-Fuissé
Burgundy is home to a different wine: Pouilly-Fuissé – known for having a special price-performance ratio compared to its siblings in Burgundy.
- The soil: This region features a mix of Jurassic limestone, marl, and partly sandy, partly clayey soils. This special soil blend ensures a harmonious balance between freshness and fullness.
- The taste: This produces a Chardonnay that charms with ripe yellow fruits like pear and peach – underscored by a fine nuttiness and a creamy structure, with a long-lasting finish. It also displays mineral notes.

Two terroirs – Two experiences
It is best to taste these characters side by side and make notes. The first wine offers precise, mineral freshness and subtle smokiness from the Loire, while the second wine from Burgundy challenges with its velvety finesse, complexity, and fruit.
Which style appeals to you more? The fresh, fiery charm of the Loire or the creamy, ripe elegance of Burgundy?
